AI Devices - Gearing-up for changing the way we interact

Today is the world of mobility and AI. ChatGPT is one of the buzz of an AI era. It has taken this world to a new level of interaction. we used to search, interact and ask questions to google, a search engine – searches the internet and provide you the results with more relevant context in which question was asked. ChatGPT took this technology ahead of search and started answering the questions with it’s own processing and algorithms, extracting the knowledge from the internet and provide it to us in human readable form. It has not only added the intelligence layer on top of it but also added the communication layer and started interacting with humans. This is self-learning model, more the people search or ask questions, it trains itself and becomes more intelligent.

There are new companies which are taking this technology to a whole new level, by improving these existing AI models and making devices over these and their mission is to make these devices a part of human’s day to day life.

To understand these devices we will first understand shortcomings of ChatGPT like models. So ChatGPT uses LLM i.e. Large Language Model which is based on language processing only meaning if you search something like “Plan for a 2 day trip to Vegas”. It can give you the whole plan for 2 days regarding bus, eateries, hotels and tourist spots however it cannot book the entire trip for you. It will only navigate you to the correct web portal to do all the bookings. Now all the further bookings is the responsibility of a human. LLM has this shortcoming of not taking an action and just providing the suggestion.

1) Rabbit R1:

This device’s main purpose is to change the way current cellphones work. We have 100’s of apps installed on our phone and for specific purpose we search for specific app. for example, UBER app for cab booking, Dominos app for Pizza ordering and Expedia for flight booking so this has lot of human intervention in executing tasks, Rabbit R1 will do this directly it doesn’t have any app installed on your device and you just say “Book an UBER to office” and this device will do it for you, Definitely impressive. right?

But how does this device do it? it has own Large Action Model called LAM rather than LLM of ChatGPT. LAM is action based and it not only provides you the whole plan for your two days trip to Vegas but also books the entire trip for you right from Uber, hotels and tourist spots. You just need to say confirm once you are OK with the plan suggested by the device. So this has taken a toll on Apple’s Siri and also this device can launch keyboard if you don’t want to talk to device and wants to type.

It also has an integrated AI image model which can recognize the objects in the image and provides the suggestions. just take your device in front of refrigerator and by scanning the refrigerator it can help you with different kind of recipes which you can prepare for tonight. isn’t it cool?

2) Humane AI pin:

This is an AI-powered wearable device and has completely different way to interact with it like voice assistance, gesture control, laser display which can be projected on your palm.

Let’s say you are wearing this device on your chest and you are on a trip to Spain, Someone comes to you and talks to you in Spanish then this device can become a translator for you as well as the Spanish person.

This sounds interesting to see how it projects and shows the information however I see it cannot deal with the private chats and interactions as it seems it doesn’t have keyboard.

Definitely, these devices have interesting things in store for us however people are still comfortable with app-based smartphones so gaining that place of smartphones is very much difficult for these devices however they are taking the technology ahead and making the technology more automated and interesting for humans.
